Lessons

Flute - I teach all levels.

Piano - I teach up to Royal Conservatory Grade 4.

Theory and History - all levels welcome.

*All ages welcome. Mixed lessons are also available if you would like a combination of flute/piano/theory/history. Parents are welcome to sit in to observe the lessons if they like, although this is not necessary.

Lessons will include - Technique, repertoire, written theory, reading, ear training, improvisation, and composition unless otherwise requested. I teach a wide range of music.

Duration - I recommend 30 minute lessons for beginners and younger students to start, whereas 45 minutes to an hour may be more appropriate for more advanced students.

Location of In-Studio Lessons - I live in Georgestown in St. John’s, down the street from the Georgetown Bakery, and Georgestown Cafe and Bookshelf.

*If you have any allergies, please let me know. I do have a Siamese cat, so depending on the nature of your allergy, my home may be fine.

The First Lesson

Regardless of your level, the first lesson will be a chance for us to get to know each other, discuss goals, lesson layout, and for you to ask me any questions you might have.

If you are a beginner, we will take some time getting to know the instrument and learning some basics.

If you already have some experience playing, I will have you play some music for me, along with any technique you might already know. This will give me an idea on how to shape your lessons in the future, which we can discuss.
